The Space between the Notes

A breath is taken somewhere
between a gasp and gulp.

Taste happens somewhere
between a nostril, a lip and a tongue.

A swallow occurs somewhere
between a nibble and a sip.

A touch lies
between anticipation and comfort.

Lips ignite
between pursed to puckered

Passion's peeking
between desire and destination

Epiphanies awaken
when real becomes known.

Sheets (and jammies) keep the space
between sensuality and slumber.

A touch comforts
between a stroke and a caress.

A laugh releases
between awkward and the abstract.

A tear appears
between sadness and joy; pain and relief.

Yearnings emerge as the space
between a departure and a return.

A compliment arrives
Somewhere between approval, admiration and envy.

Pride shows off
between contentment and conceit.

Déjà vu is a moment
between present and past.

Recognition rewinds us
between familiar and known.

Love impassions
between known and desired.

The silence between our notes
makes our harmony.
